A pair of very unusual and attractive "his and hers"chairs. "Liberty of London" in their design, they have all of the elements made popular by the arts and crafts movement. Restored with new rush seats. We have another pair of these chairs awaiting new seats.

An early 19th Century Oak "Throne Chair" £135.00

As you can see a totally unique chair! Bobbin turned details and very sturdily built. The upholstery is French chateau tapestry with ornate braid to the edge. We have replaced the cane weave to the back with a complex snowflake/star of David pattern, a real show stopper!

Set of Four Nantucket/Boston "Windsor" Stick Back Chairs- £750.00

A magnificent set of Nantucket/American Stick or Fan Back chairs - two "Nantucket" carver armchairs and two "Boston" dining chairs probably made in the late 19th/early 20th century. These are top quality chairs of generous size. The seats are each made from one piece of solid elm with parts of the chair top including the carver arms made from yew. A rare find! Currently American hand made copies cost from £400 per side chair. Please e-mail for further details.

An Iberian hand made Pine Childs High Chair- SOLD

Mid twentieth century pine chair with paper fibre rush seat. Seat height is 19" with a width of 15" and a depth of 14". Overall height of the back is 29". Would be useful for children as the seat is at least one inch higher than usual, but is equally useable and strong enough for the average adult.

American Walnut Arts and Crafts Chest of Drawers by Maple & Co. Circa 1880 - £325.00

Solid walnut chest with two short and three long drawers. Beautifully executed incised decoration to the perimeter of each drawer front and Gothic canted edges to the drawer frames. Superb condition, this is a very handsome and useful piece of furniture.

A Rare Pair of Wavy Stick Back Low Ebonised Chairs with Cane Seats - Liberty & Co Catalogue 1890

This is an exceptional pair of top quality Arts & Crafts Movement ebonised "His and hers" low chairs. They are nursing chair height so possibly may have originally been made for children. They are both in original unmolested condition. The seats have been recaned by us and are therefore perfect and good for another 40 years! No replacement parts, loose joints or damage to the framework of either the armchair or side chair.

This particular design is a recognised Liberty retail line of the 1890's, and has all of the "Arts and crafts" design features advocated by the major designers of the time - Ernest Gimson, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow School. However what sets this pair apart is the fact that they have canework seats - most of the rare examples that do become available are invariably armchairs with rush seats - these two may have been a special commission - it is highly unusual to have a matching pair.

For the serious collector.
