Cane Stain

 Our own tried and tested mixture of earth pigments designed to tint newly replaced canework. Two colours are available, Antique - designed to give an authentic look of genuine age, and Gold - perfect for a "younger" looking patina especially on Bauhaus type cane panelling.

The powder is mixed with water, applied with a brush or cloth and then must be sealed with oil or french polish once dry. Comes with full instructions for use. The new cane seat of the handsome smokers bow below was tinted using our antique pigment mix.

Salvaged Antique Carcass Wood and Veneer

We always have quantities of "breaker" wood from furniture which was beyond economic repair. The items include:

Pine and other carcass wood from early 20th century, Victorian and earlier period case furniture.

Dovetailed drawers, complete and in parts.

Well patinated veneers, mahogany etc. removed from carcass wood. Chair parts and legs from mainly the 19th century, stretchers plain and turned.

Ask us for range and prices as the supply changes regularly.

Antique Restoration Materials Starter Kit

 A kit containing starter quantities of animal glue, garnet shellac, grain filler, van dyck, a tak rag, small quantity of wire wool and basic instructions for the preparation and use of the contents. Just add furniture!

Pearl Glue

The old fashioned traditional stuff! Cover and soak in water for a few hours then warm in a double boiler on the hob. Smells a bit but worth it. The ONLY glue to use on antique furniture.

Flaked Shellac

Mix your own French polish. Decant some flakes into methylated spirits (methanol), allow to dissolve and apply with a traditional polishing rubber or mop. Available in blonde (clear) or garnet (brown)

Van Dyck Crystals

The Victorians favourite staining pigment it can create most desired "brown" shades from antique pine to mahogany. Just add water!
WARNING Please be aware - Van Dyck is made from natural extract of nuts - therefore anyone with a nut allergy should not under any circumstances come into contact with it!!!

Grain Filler

Soft easy to use powder grain filler. Mix with water to form a paste, apply and lightly sand off excess. Perfect to use under french polish to get a mirror finish on open grained wood. A little goes a long way!
